You will gain a command of the fretboard that allows you not only to accompany vocalists or other instruments, but also to play melodies and improvise leads in the style of your choice. Part I: Single Notes and Melodies Introduction – How to use the video; prerequisites to course, including a review of first position cords. Single Notes and Melodies – Healthy body use; finding notes on the fretboard quickly; scales and how to use them to create melodies. Part II: Accompaniment and Rhythm Playing/Ear Training/Learning Tactics Accompaniment and Rhythm Playing – Add interest and drive to accompaniment, using both right hand techniques (fingerpicking and/or strumming) and left hand techniques for rhythm. Ear Training – Discovering melodies within the scale, recognizing chord progressions and using the guitar for basic aural training. Learning Tactics – A lesson with a student, demonstrating a variety of tips and techniques to make learning efficient and enjoyable. Part III: Lead Playing/Interview Lead Playing – Using the scale patterns to create leads and solving the mystery of soloing over changing harmonies Interview – Charlotte answers questions dealing with such issues as performance anxiety, gender bias and working compatibility with band members.
