Description: Jack Del Rio, the Head Coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars of the National Football League after completing his playing career as a linebacker with the Minnesota Vikings and working as the Defensive Coordinator for the Carolina Panthers and Linebackers Coach for the Baltimore Ravens, was the 'heart and soul' of the Minnesota Vikings defense during his tenure with the Vikings. Jack demonstrated outstanding leadership and ability on a consistent basis throughout the course of his stellar career. Jack was a 'standout' college linebacker at the University of Southern California and commenced his National Football League career upon being drafted by the New Orleans Saints in 1985. Jack was an All-Conference selection and was selected for and played in the National Football League Pro Bowl for the 1994 season. As the consummate linebacker who was always aware of what is going on around him, Jack led all 'inside-middle' linebackers in tackles (507) and all linebackers (including outside linebackers) in interceptions (9) over the last three seasons of his career. Jack, who was an all-around athlete at the University of Southern California, having played both football and baseball (and whose favorite sport as a youngster was basketball), enjoyed the competition and was a warrior who was always there when times were tough and always 'left it all on the field'. In his 'All Pro Sports Football Series' video, Jack shares his life story and discusses conditioning and drills, teaches the basic fundamental techniques of the skills of playing linebacker and shares with us what he believes it takes to excel.
