Seller Questions

Q: How do I upload my digital goods?
A: Simply follow the directions on the seller page to upload your content to your Zipidee account. You must register prior to uploading content. Zipidee supports the following file formats:
  • Videos: avi, mpeg, mp4, wmv, mov, flv
  • Music/Audio: mp3, wma
  • eBooks: pdf
For more information on preparing your video, audio and eBook content for upload, please see the Tips for Sellers page.

Q: Do I need to own the rights to the digital content?
A: Yes, you must have the legal rights to digitally distribute the content you wish to sell on Zipidee. Your content must not violate any copyright laws. Violators will have their accounts suspended and will not receive proceeds from the infringing content.

Q: How do I receive proceeds from my sales?
A: You will receive your profits once a month, with a minimum payment of $50. If you earn less than $50 in a given month, you must wait until your total sales reach $50 before receiving payment. Profits are sent to you via Paypal.

Q: Is there a monthly or other recurring fee to list my content for sale?
A: Listing Management fees will be waived for a limited time. In the future, Zipidee will charge a nominal fee ($1.00) per uploaded media. Zipidee will also subtract a processing fee (see next question).

Q: Are there other fees associated with my sales?
A: Zipidee will substract a processing fee which includes credit card or PayPal transaction fees plus Zipidee’s transaction fee of 20%. These fees are deducted from your set price. Exact fees assessed against your sales may vary depending on the type of payment (PayPal or Credit Card) a buyer uses. Fees are assessed as follows:
  • Payments made using PayPal incur a 2.9% + $0.30 fee for charges over $12.00 and 5.0% + $0.05 for charges under $12.00.
  • Payments made using Credit Cards (non PayPal) incur a 2.9% + $0.22 fee.

Q: Do I need a PayPal account in order to sell on Zipidee?
A: No. Zipidee issues seller payments on the fifteenth day following the seller’s monthly statement date. Payments will be made for the full amount of the seller’s statement balance, provided the net account balance equals or exceeds $50 as of the monthly statement date. A seller’s monthly statement date may not necessarily correspond with the calendar month end.

Earnings may be issued via PayPal, ACH (Automated Clearing House), or check. The seller is responsible for selecting a payment method and providing the proper information required for distributions. If an electronic payment method is not selected, a check will be mailed to the address the seller provided.

If you already have a PayPal account at the time of payment, PayPal will notify you that a payment is ready. If you do not have a PayPal account when Zipidee sends you your first payment, PayPal will alert you to open an account. PayPal charges Zipidee a transaction fee per payment, so your total received will be slightly less than your earnings on Zipidee.

International (non-USA) sellers will be paid either through a PayPal account or with a check. Zipidee reserves the right to impose limits and restrictions on international seller accounts.

Q: Does Zipidee have a Digital Rights Management (DRM) system?
A: Zipidee’s proprietary digital rights protection technology provides sellers with the assurance and confidence that their content will not be redistributed as a result of selling through Zipidee. All sellers have the option to utilize our patent-pending DRM solution, which protects content from unauthorized distribution. We also use watermarking to protect images and video content.

Q: What if a customer has a complaint or problem?
A: You may receive a complaint directly from a buyer. It’s important for you to establish a mutually beneficial relationship with your customers. Satisfied customers will continue to purchase content from you, thus increasing your revenue and profits.

A Zipidee representative may become involved to resolve issues that are related to copyright violations, technology issues, or unlawful uses. Repeated issues or offenses may result in account suspension.

Q: How much does this cost me?
A: Nothing. Zipidee provides an easy way to promote and sell digital goods online in a secure and risk-free manner. We collect a 20% share of the profits from each transaction, so we benefit when you benefit.

Zipidee Player Questions

Q: What is the Zipidee Player?
A: The Zipidee Player is a proprietary media player that allows you to play DRM-protected media files “offline” after you have completed your purchase at Zipidee. You do not need to be connected to the Internet once you download a file. This is ideal for users who would like to play their digi-goods without internet access (e.g. on an airplane).

DRM (Digital Rights Management) is a proprietary technology that offers sellers the option to protect their digi-goods from unauthorized copying and sharing.

Once installed, the Zipidee Player allows you to download and save the files you have purchased onto your computer; you must be connected to the internet to initiate and complete file-download. You do not need to be connected to the internet in order to view these files once download is completed. You CANNOT transfer and play DRM-protected files on portable devices or other media players. If you would like to transfer the digi-good to a DRM-free format, please contact the seller directly and request that they offer this option to their customers. Zipidee allows its sellers the freedom to choose the format in which they would like to distribute their digi-goods.

Q: What is DRM? And why are some digi-goods DRM-protected while others are DRM-free?
A: DRM (Digital Rights Management) is a proprietary technology that offers sellers the option to protect their digi-goods from unauthorized copying and sharing. Zipidee offers sellers the flexibility to offer their digi-goods with or without DRM protection, according to their needs and distribution preferences. Zipidee does not promote either preference.

Q: How can I tell whether a file is DRM-protected or DRM-free?
A: Digi-goods that are sold with DRM-protection display a lock symbol on the “Download and Own It!” button.

Q: Why do I need the Zipidee Player?
A: You need the Zipidee Player in order to play DRM-protected “Download and Own It!” files offline. You will be presented with the opportunity to download and install the Zipidee Player upon completion of your purchase. Download of the player is free for all registered members.

In addition to offline access in the Zipidee Player, once purchased, “Download and Own It!” media files provide unlimited online streaming access for registered members. Play your files online by signing in to your account, navigating to your My Zipidee page, and clicking on the media file you wish to play.

Play your files offline by navigating to the Zipidee Player on your computer. Initiate download. Once the download has completed, play the file by clicking on its title in the Zipidee Library or return at any later time to play it. You CANNOT transfer and play DRM-protected files on portable devices or other media players.

Q: How do I download and install the Zipidee Player?
A: You will have the opportunity to download the Zipidee Player after your “Download and Own It” media purchase has been completed. Click the “Download Zipidee Player” and follow steps 2 to 7 below. If you wish to return at a later time to download the Zipidee Player, sign in to Zipidee and follow these steps:
  1. Click “Download Zipidee Player” (upper right area of your screen)
  2. Follow download prompts for the setup.exe file until installation is complete
  3. Select “Open Player Now”
  4. Once the Player opens, click the “Go to Media List” button or the “Download Media” tab; a screen displays a list of your purchased files

  6. The file download process has been initiated; it may take anywhere from a few minutes to hours depending on file size and internet connection
  7. When the file has finished downloading, it will be listed in the Zipidee Library; click on it to play.

Q: I downloaded the Zipidee Player but did not install it. Now I can’t find it. Where is it?
A: By default, the Zipidee Player downloads to your desktop. If you’re still unable to find it, you can search for “zipidee” to locate the setup file. Alternatively, you can always re-download the Zipidee player.

Q: Can I download and install the Zipidee Player on multiple computers?
A: Yes, you can download and install the Zipidee Player on any of your computers.

Q: Can there be multiple users associated with a Zipidee Player?
A: Yes, multiple users may be associated with the same Zipidee player. For instance, when you share your computer with others you may have different Zipidee usernames. Nevertheless, you will be allowed to play files that others have bought and downloaded to the same computer.

Q: Can I play “Download and Own It!” files on a different device or player?
A: DRM-protected “Download and Own It” files CANNOT be played on other portable devices and media players. These files are copyright-protected using Zipidee’s patent-pending DRM and can therefore only be played on the Zipidee Player (and on your computer or TV if connected to your computer).

DRM-free “Download and Own It” files can be transferred and played on other portable devices and media players. Find out how at our Tips for Buyer page.

A: Navigate to the Zipidee Player. Click on a file (or hold the CTRL key to select multiple files) and click the “Delete” tab. Click OK when prompted with the Delete Confirmation alert window.

Q: I already downloaded my files but they continue to appear in the Zipidee Media List. Why?

  2. Navigate to Zipidee and sign in to your account
  3. Access your My Zipidee page
  4. Click on Show History
  5. Click on Digi-Goods Purchased
